Making Puppets
So I decided to think back when I was a kid, and what we use to do for fun. Before video games were everything and TV was to. So I broke out the yard, buttons, glue, lunch bags and markets. We made puppets. Makena had a great time. We even did a little puppet show after wards. Lots of fun stuff to do inside.

Arboretum
On Monday we went to the Arboretum. It was great. It has trails everywhere, gardens, really gorgeous. We walked for about two miles. Makena was a big trooper...she isn't the outdoors kind of girl. We have known that since she was 1 1/2. And Brinlee had a great time looking around and yelling back at all of the birds. And me well...I'm really out of shape. lol

Trying to get back
I have been sick for almost a month now. After a head cold, UTI, and infected lymph nods in my neck. I'm trying to get back into the groove again. Being in bed for hours on end while my hubby and my extended family took care of my children and my house, I felt so helpless, tired, and sad. Why am I soo sick? And I really feel that the lord is telling me to stop and smell the roses. That I need to take the time and enjoy my family. Maybe even take it easy a little...I know some of you are saying "good". And I know..I try and do it all some times. Lesson learned. Take time for me more, listen to my body, get more R&R, take the time to enjoy the small things....I have a whole list. Trying to slow down is going to be a challenge, but I know it is better in the long run.
So hopefully I'll start posting again soon like I have before. Know everyone is just waiting to see what happens next. jk

How lucky?
Your Luck Quotient: 39% |
![]() You have a low luck quotient. You've had a few lucky experiences, but overall, you feel like a pretty unlucky person. Good luck can come your way, but you have to be more trusting in the world. Have some new experiences. Meet some new people. You never know where luck can be lurking! |

THE ER
Well this happened on Friday night. I had gotten the kids down to bed, it was about 8. I was just finishing the blog on the tornado issue when I had to use the bathroom. Lets just say that I'm potty training Makena and I go more than she does. But I haven't been feeling sick. All of the sudden I was in excruciating pain. I was on the Lu and I couldn't move. I finally made it to the bed were I collapsed. It was my kidneys, lower back, and really low cramping. I couldn't move and nothing made it better. I called my mother in law...no answer. Called Kristen (my sister in law in med school) she paged Steve for me. I couldn't wait any longer I called Mitch...no answer. I called 4 time...no answer. So I called his work. He picked up and I screamed in pain "I'm in pain (I was crying), I can't move, I need help, help me". He said that he would be home in five min. And he was. Finally got a hold of my mother in law and she came over to watch the girls. Mitch picked me up and put me in the car. The whole time I was thinking "I hope Brinlee doesn't wake up and want to be fed", kind of a trivial thing to think of being in all that pain. Mitch was going like 50 to 60 on the road. He was honking and blowing through the red lights. While I was crying and screaming. I have NEVER EVER been in so much pain in my life. That includes child birth people. Because at least in child birth the contractions stop and go. This was constant! Got there and had to wait. Finally got in a room and waited some more. By this time my body is having a hard time staying awake and I'm about to pass out. I'm in and out of it. Mitch is asking my questions so I stay alert. Finally the doctor comes in and asks what is up. I can barely talk through the pain. They give me some pain meds, my only request is that the meds don't dry my milk up. That would be very depressing and hard. They take blood, urine, do a ultra sound. They thought that it might be ovarian cyst, or kidney stone. The ultra sound comes back normal, and the doctor said that it was a severe UTI (urinary tract infection) that was heading its way up my ureter(the tubes from the kidneys to the bladder). The infection was causing the ureters to contract, which the DR. said that is one of the most painful things a person can experience. After all that we checked out at 2 a.m.
Got home and passed out. I have to say that I would never wish that on anyone. I squeezed Mitch's hand till it was purple. I left my hand imprint on his hands. I'm just grateful that I have an AMAZING husband who will be by my side through anything. I love you Mitch. And thanks to all of my family for helping out as well. We love you all.

Tornado
So last night I was doing the normal routine, putting the kids down. In the middle of nursing Brinlee the sirens went off. Now they do test them the first wed. of the month. Then I realized that it was Thursday. I quickly finished with Brinlee and put her to bed. Grabbed Makena and turned on the local weather station. A thousand things running through my head. There was a tornado warning for just north of us. So I took Makena, Brinlee, Shelby, and me and went in our pantry. We don't have a basement. The weather station kept pushing the warning time up and up. The weather threat was suppose to be over at 7:45, then it was 8, 8:15...etc. Then they said that my whole county was under watch. Basically to duck and cover. I called my mother in law that live just 2 minutes away. She told me to get over there and bunk down till the storm was over. I grabbed everyone and everything I could think of that was important and got in the car. As I started down the street I looked up at the sky...black everywhere and a weird shade of green. As I took the side streets a cop was in front of me with his lights on trying to warn people. That is when I lost it. I was so scared that something out of my control could possible hurt my family (by the way mitch was at work in all of this, they didn't even close...he wanted to leave but couldn't which made me upset). I was crying and poor Makena said "Are you scared mommy?" I said that I was a little but that as long as we stuck together that we would be okay. Pulled up to the in laws house where everyone was waiting for me outside. Everyone grabbed my kids and bags. Headed to the basement. That is when I realized that none of us had shoes on. lol. The warning didn't come off till 10. Both of my kids were sooooo overly tired. As was I.. I'm sick. I was looking forward to a nice sleep...ha. We are all well and back at the house today. No damage. Though I have to say that I haven't been that scared in a REALLY long time. Makes you put things into perspective.
School
Well we got the letter from UMKC today. The college that my hubby had the interview at. We are on the waiting list #73. Why don't they just send a rejection letter, it would be the same thing. But that is what you get when 4500 people apply and they only except 95. There is no way 70 something people are going to say no. We are totally deflated. We both have been working hard for...since we got married for graduate school. But trying to be optimistic for a second...maybe we will still from the other school, or some people will decline. If not we always have a plan B.
